Sony has announced that PlayStation Vita firmware 1.80 is coming August 28th in North America and bringing a slew of features.
First and foremost, firmware 1.80 will allow PSone Classics to be played on the PlayStation Vita, but it will also allow users to control their PlayStation 3 with the handheld. Here's the official breakdown from the press release.
- Control the home screen and some features in applications, such as Video, Music, or Settings, using the buttons on PS Vita.
- Variable speed playback, fast-rewind and fast-forward, and repeat play will be supported in the Video application.
- Music playlists which are imported from PlayStation 3 (PS3) or iTunes 1 under Music application will be supported.
- "Cross-Controller" icon will be added to the LiveArea under the Remote Play application to enable users to play PS3 format software by using their PS Vita as a controller. (Depends on title, both PS3 and PS Vita software titles will be required.)
